Kempenfest 2019
MARKETING AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL
Kempenfest 2019 was a really exciting opportunity as a Creative Director that allowed me to direct and produce a wide range of materials. I had the chance to collaborate with the event organizers to develop new branding and marketing material for the festival. They asked for a fresh new look to elevate their messaging and appearance as the festival was switching things up in 2019. They wanted their visuals to be bright, colourful, and visually appealing to a wide audience and to encapsulate the beautiful view that the festival has, being on Kempenfelt Bay in Barrie, Ontario.
I used imagery of the infamous Spirit Catcher of downtown Barrie along with images of the waterfront to create a young, fresh looking brand for the 2019 festival. With the introduction of more music and live bands, they wanted the marketing material to appeal to a younger audience. This led to my use of vibrant blues, pinks and purples with pops of yellow. Modern sans-serifs were the obvious choice for all typography, as these materials needed to be easily and quickly read by festival attendees.
For this project I designed social media posts, website and social media banners, a vinyl car wrap, stage banners, printed booklets for attendees to collect and read at the festival, posters and more.
By far this was my biggest project yet as a Creative Director and designer, and it came with new challenges for me to figure out and overcome. It was an honour being part of the Kempenfest team as somebody who grew up going to the festival my entire life!
